Not sure if any of you guys would be interested but tomorrow there is a punk gig on in burleigh for the Disables CD launch. There are a few different bands playing including a local punk band Apathy.

Venue: Shed 5 (Just off the highway, reedy creek exit right at the first lights in the industrial estate)
Cost: Probably $5-10
Time: 2pm start

Anyone heard about it or going? Come along and have a look. Should be alright

Ha ha....nah dude. Its a punk gig.....not emo/fashioncore. The guys who run the place are right into street punk so they are right against emo shit.

If your into bands like rise against, good riddance, NOFX, strung out, pennywise you would probably like some of the bands.

Its one of the only venues left where you can crowd surf and get amongst it a bit without getting kicked out. The guy who runs it has a bar set up its still all ages to which is pretty good.....

Love of diagrams are from down south, melbs i think - instrumentals and really good
Iron On - Local and rate them Highly !!!

The Mean Streaks - Local and loud. Chick Drummer is wicked!!
I Heart Hiroshima - Southern band

The rev's pretty cool tho small for such a big gig. Has an upstairs section that overlooks the stage which is usually closed off but I guess will be open tonight. The stage is 4' high and from the front of the stage to the mixing desk(which is at the back wall) is about 8-10m, so is a nice cosy joint.\

Was a great show at the Rev last night.. very nice crowd (upstairs wasn't open though.. not enough people I reckon). Great room! Would really like to play there one day. So exhausting though.. I'm not a fan of multi-band shows. Two is perfect, three is fine, but anymore than that and I get sick of waiting around.

Dear Nora was excellent. Really nice songs, great voice (even though it was a little husky from a few heavy nights). The whole crowd was silent during her set.. amazing! V.cool stuff.

Didn't get to see Scout Niblet - I was really exhausted and bailed during Love of Diagrams' set. They weren't too bad, but were having some pretty bad tech problems and I got really bored really quickly. I'd already been standing around for 6 hours and just wanted to get home. I'm disappointed I didn't see Scout Niblet, but it's more about quality over quantity for me and I would have struggled to enjoy it if I did hang around (geez I'm getting OLD!!).

Macromantics was (were? solo artist) amazing. I highly recommend checking her out.. phenomenal rapping (which I'm not a huge fan of.. but you've just got to see this girl in action.. trust me!).

Iron On were a little average - I have a few of their CDs and really like their stuff, but their set didn't seem to flow very well and the sound was muddy out the front. First time I've seen 'em though, and I'm sure they normally do really well. Definitely want to see them again sometime soon.

The Young Professionals were really good - kinda simple music, but played by three (very attractive!) girls who really knew how to put on a show. I suppose the songs were a little forgettable at times, but everyone really enjoyed them. I thought they were great.

I only saw five songs from The Rational Academy, but were really impressed with their stuff. I have a ZZZ live to air from them and they seem like they've got a good grip on a combination of pop sensibility and noisy guitar stuff.

Didn't see I Heart Hiroshima and The Mean Streaks.. next time maybe.

All in all, a great night at a very cool venue. Much better than one of the cock rock bands I saw at the Shark Bar on Friday night!

The hotels definetly the place to be. Where we stayed was Top Of The Mark, its above shooters and they put all the schoolies on 3 levels so every level was just a huge party everyone would cruise in and out of everybodys place it was rad make sure you lock your bedroom so your shit dont get rorted tho.
