Noticed that throughout this forum and in society in general, there seems to be an attitude amongst some that if you live in Brisbane you don't have the right to surf at the goldy or Nth NSW, etc. Why should the fact that your work, study, family, etc is based in brisbane make you any less of a member of the surfing community? I'm not arching my back up, but think its a fairly bullshit attitude and just wanted to see view you guys on here.

It's just territoriality man. It will always be there. Anyone surfing a spot that they are not local to will always cop it. Just show respect and you have nothing to worry about.

yeah slick that exactly right. but its the same problem that boogers face. why do we consistantly get droped in on by some surfers. but its all about respect. if your a brisso and dont like the way your treated u need to build some respect from some local surfers. just keep your mouth shut and let your surfing talk. keep surfing at the same spots and it'll all start to go your way.

Slick Trigger you are a fucking wanker. The only territory you hold is over your dads ring when its sitting on your face.

If you are from Brisbane surf anywhere you want. Brisbane is 40 min from strad and surfers is 40min for nth nsw. So your trying to say ppl who live in surfers cant surf down south either....

Its people like slick trigger who are pulling the sport down. There is no such thing as territory. Its whatever is working, and who is stocked enough on surfing to get up the earliest and surf the longest.

Brizzie people are 10x the surfer you will ever be, because atleast we put in effort and overcome absolute cock suckers like you mate.

didnt your mum ever teach you to share when you were giving your bro headies?

fisheye go home. its blow ins like u that give brisso's a bad name.

so people that surf at their break close to everyday, should just let u cunts paddle out and take any wave u want? talking shit bout u's being 10x the surfer because u make the 40 min trip. fuck pretty hard stuff man.

Yeah i can't say i totally agree with fisheye and his aggressive/defensive attitude and i do agree that territorialism is there and always will be. Personally i haven't had run ins cause as ya say respect to earn respect, and i guess people wouldn't have had a clue if i'm from the goldy, brissy, or bloody timbuktoo. The stereotypical goldy v brizzy v nth nsw etc attitudes will always be there, but shit is there anything better in the world then coming in from a 3 hour sesh where the vibe is awesome, waves are being shared and everyone hoots everyone, thats what makes this sport so good and i reckon there should be more of it.

Speaking of blow ins - do they still have that graffiti over at TOS saying Go home brissie blow ins. Funny stuff

Have been a brissie blow in for a few years and never had one problem at the goldie. I honestly don't know where ppl get their attitudes from.

Except there was that time i dropped in on a local and he cut my leg rope with a knife in the surf, and told me to stay off his waves, and then we had a big fight in the carpark... oh wait that was the movie Point Break.

Man relax there is more to surfing than getting more waves than the guy next to you.

how da hell do u tell if someones from brissy anyway? less tan? worse surfer? the way u talk? i dunno.

I've always been treated with respect 98% of the time, and i do the same back. and if i drop in on someone, they dont usually get pissed off. maybe cuz im so charming :) i dont usually drop in unless im really desperate (snapper/kirra)

surf at surfers paradise was awesome this arvo! cleanest 3ft'er barrels and sunny day with lots of chicks. can't complain! i dont care if i get dropped in on a day like this

Fisheye you are obviously a genius. Did you learn to speak like that in the caravan park that you live in? By the way moron, I'm a Brisso.

it's called localism boys and it exists everywhere you go. a local is generally anyone that's been somewhere a week longer than you. i often find it funny to see on nearly every breakwall or headland i've ever surfed the old token "locals only" sign spray painted in white. treat the place and everyone else in the water and on the beach with the kind of respect that you would expect if somebody was visiting your house and you'll be fine 95% of the time, and you won't be annoyed.

unless of course you come across some scared little terrier like our backward little tag-a-long "fisheye" who instead of disgracing himself in this forum should go back to remedial school and learn to spell cat, mat and bunny all over again. the only fisheye you have seen is the lonely one staring back at you when your fist is grabbed around its shaft pumping it as vigourously and as erratically as you hit those keyboard keys.
